Entries - Hollow Forms/Vases
Each hollow form or vase must have been made from a single piece of wood. Hollow forms must be hollowed through a hole which is significantly smaller than the diameter of the finished work. Vases must be higher than they are wide and have been hollowed through the open end. Hollow forms and vases must be predominantly wood but may be decorated with other materials.

The colours highlight the grain which evokes movement. One side has a sense of drama and movement drawing your eyes into the vessel. The other conveys peacefulness and serenity. Magnolia, 21 X 17cm, Oil paint
Rata flowers provide food for the native Fantail as it draws insects to the sweet nectar in the flowers. The family of three fantail carved on this vessel is inspired by watching the hyper-activity of these birds. 250mm high.

This was inspired by a puffer type fish found on the beach with the base representing teeth of whatever tried to eat it. Made from spalted pear, purple heart and painted with acrylic paints. The dia is 180mm.

Robinia, turned May 2025, 20cm diameter 20.5 cm high, inside depth 19.5 cm, .3 to .5cm thickness. Turned through single entry top 2.5 cm. Sanded to 400 grit, Beal buff and Hard burnishing Organic oil finish.
